introduction video I don't know if it was already mentioned, but for new users, the first time they run wuala, would be nice if they will see an overlay rectangle - an introduction with a few words about what wuala is. very short and simple. and then there would be a link: video introduction (it links to a video file in the wuala network) err.. maybe after they create an account, actually. the video introduction would be a full screen video showing the basic features and how to perform them in the interface. (screencast ofcourse) I think it should cover the following: (personal suggestion) When I introduced wuala to my friends, it went something like this: I explained "My Files" try to create a folder, try to upload a file to that folder. see how it's encrypted. when you click the file you can set a description or tags at the pane that opened at the bottom. Then I show them where to see the amount of space they have left, the upload and download window. (click the arrows) Next, right click the folder and choose Share... you have 3 modes: (yellow) private - only u can see. (red) friends - only your friends (you can click to select which ones). (blue) public - everyone can see. when you go to "World" you see the public files of all the users. You also need to learn two shortcuts: F3 and F4. F3 shows you a tree view of your folders, press it again and it disappears. it's easy to move files that way, try it! F4 shows you comments for the file you chose. you can leave notes or comment on files. Next, I'd ask them to go to My Friends where I'd leave them a friend request or they'll seek my username. and lastly, I'd show them my group, and explain that in a group there is no storage limit, just based on the users of the group. OH, and ofcourse show them the awesome search widget, and also the quick find "start typing" filter (which is really cool). "the search behaves differently based on the tab you're in. In world you have more search options when you click the links..." oh and by the way, wuala also creates a network share virtual filesystem as W:\ . don't be alarmed by that, you can disable it if you want, and it only works when wuala is running. but it allows you to copy directly to there from explorer, or from your backup software, or save a document directly. That's it. pretty extensive but also fast introduction. Other things like trading storage and creating/handling groups is left for them to discover later on.
